NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Desmond Choo called for measures to address young Singaporeans’ concerns regarding jobs, education and changing aspirations.
NTUC’s Assistant Secretary-General wants more to be done to protect Singaporean PMEs at the workplace, and to enhance their employment and employability.
NTUC Director Yeo Wang Ling also spoke on the need to create workplaces that fully embrace women, and the importance of the Progressive Wage Model in the retail and food services sectors.
Mr Samad also urged companies work with NTUC and the unions on training and transformation efforts to help Singaporean workers achieve better job outcomes.
The NTUC Deputy Secretary-General gave a breakdown of the $100 million allocated to NTUC in this year’s budget during his maiden speech as a Labour Member of Parliament.
These were some of the findings published in the Ministry of Finance’s (MOF’s) Occasional Paper titled “Assessment of the Impact of Key COVID-19 Budget Measures”.
